Will Blog for Friends!

Hi!  Welcome to Darlington, our new-to-us home in the rural southeastern US.

I created this blog to share with you our journey as we decorate, entertain, live and enjoy life in our home.  I have found that as an employee of a home-based business it can be difficult to make friends in a new community.  When we were younger we were automatically drawn to others through school, but as we age and our society becomes more isolated, it can be difficult to make connections with others.  I created this blog to fill that gap – to make new online friends from around the world.

So grab your favorite beverage and join me.  Leave a comment or two and bring a friend.  There is always room for another guest at Darlington.

Cheers!

    • Thanks for stopping by and following by email Khris! I enjoyed making those blocks and look forward to sharing some more with you.

  1. I understand what you mean about making friends if you’re new to a community and not ‘someone’s mom.’Three years ago, we moved to eastern Ontario to escape the more difficult northern Ontario winters. As we’re not much for joining groups, it took us a good two years to get past just saying hello to people in the shops. And then it was through a casual comment to someone in a cafe that we became part of a diverse group of folks about our age. It’s so effortless when you have kids; but now, child-free and older, we have to remind ourselves that we have to take responsibility for making plans with our evolving group of friends.

    • Thank you, Brenda. It is so nice to be validated! I am having to make a conscious effort to get out of the house every day. I tell myself I definitely will not meet anyone sitting around by myself all day!
